i got the 2 barrel carter carb rebiult and back on my truck... it just is not going to cut it... a four barrel is the only answer.. i went up to the local gunkyard today who happen to owes me a a rear end for my jeep cherikee... i have only been waiting almost a year for it and the jeep is on its lost legs anyway so he is going to give me an almiom intake and a 4 barrel carb instead... just got off the phone with him and he have found the intake but is still looking for a carb... if he can't find one my friend Mark said he has a Thermal Quad at work and he should be able to get it for free or at least next to nothing... so i should beable to have it on and running in a couple of days...

I had a carter afb, 625 cfm on my old mustang. Nice carb, but it kinda had a dead spot @ 1500-1800 rpm. Probably just the way it was jetted.... Hope you get 'er up and running, so we can see ya on the trail!!!

;)Course, you may want to get an offroad kit for it. I'm thinking it would cost the same as a rebuild kit, depending on the shape of the carb when you get it whether you rebuild it or not.

the offroad kit, ;)I think would be putting in different types of floats/springs, to keep it working well on steep or odd angles Its what I need for my quadrajet.... It cuts out on really steep angles.... The Carter afb is easy to tune and easy to clean. I really would go with that, over the other one you were looking at.

:(well mark looked at the afb and said it is not worth rebiulting but his boss will sell the thermal quad to him for $50 and he most likly will take the afb in on some trade for it... i still need to have the intake sand blasted, buy the carb and the intake gasket kit... hopefully it will be done by the 19th or i will run at jim's with the two barrel...

what gears are you running. if you are running 3.55 with 35" tires that is a bad combo and will dog you down.
