Yacolt Burn is an area on the east side of Vancouver and north of Camas and Washougal. It is a very large area. It is currently illegal to 4 wheel in this area. (has been for a long time). We are about to get a 4x4 Trail System in the Burn. It is proposed to be similar to Browns Camp. We have as much land and the Dept. of Natural Resources has been mandated to open this area up to the public. We are in the final stages of the actual plan being completed and work to begin. It is expected that we will get our first trails as soon as this winter or spring. We will all benefit and enjoy this new area. It will be closer to Portland than Brownscamp is. We expect it to be very popular. Your help is needed to show that there is a responsible group of 4 wheelers that can help maintain an area like this. We need a huge showing at this next clean up event. EVERYONE PLEASE. Pass it on.. YACOLT BURN CLEAN UP EVENT ON Sept. 27, 2008. Here is the flyer.

I hope Poorboy members will make this a group effort. I would like to see 10 or 20 vehicles attend this event. The more the better. It is actually kind of fun to do this. We will start at the Jones Creek Trail Head. ( parking lot used to unload quads and cycles ). We will be greeted by Woody's 4x4 who will be bringing donuts and throwing out merchandise from their store to all of us who attend.
We will then choose what activity we wish to participate in. Dragging out stolen and abandoned cars, cleaning up a littered camp area,, painting over graffiti,, etc. You will be with a group of like minded people (4 wheelers,,, friends) You will have the adventure of exploring the area as you clean up. With a lot of people this ends up being a pretty easy task for each of us.
At the end we will re gather and have a lunch provided by Pacific Northwest 4-Wheel Drive Association.
Please Pass this info on and encourage every member of Poorboy to attend.
We Want these trails,,, We NEED to show our support.
Thanks. Dave.

Also,,, I want to invite everyone to another Very Important event. We are having a 4x4 Cruise In, At Woody's 4x4 on Sunday Oct 12 from 9 to 2. This is a benefit for the Yacolt Burn Trail effort. DNR will be there with information about the Trail Project and we need to show them there is a huge population of 4 wheelers in the area. Please.. Attend both of these events.. VERY IMPORTANT this will help our cause. Thanks Dave.

Regarding present flyer locations.. Battleground Napa, Jantzen Beach Baxters and Central 4x4, Woodland Napa, on window at BG Schucks, flyers at Woody's 4x4.
If anyone knows of a location that NEEDS flyers,, I will be glad to see if we can get em there.
Internet is good,, have had 500 view on 4 differents sites. I expect a decent turn out,, we want a huge,, overwhelming turn out to really show the DNR our need for trails. If they see a lot of volunteers,, they can give us more miles because they will be able to see the maintenence potential from volunteer groups.
The trails have to be somewhat self sustaining and not require alot of yearly state and fed money. So volunteering is required.
Again,, a big turnout means less work,, more fun,, and best results.. Thanks. Dave.

I work at the Orchards location, by Safeway and Fred Meyers. If you stop by ask for Justin, and I can take them and then clear it with the manager. I am more than willing to support this where ever possible but the trail clean up and trial buildings seem to be happening on Sat. I work just about every Sat. for now.

I'm going to try and make it to both events... it all depends on my boss giving me the time off for the cruise-in, but I will be there for the cleanup. Do you have a map for the meeting place?
