If it needs it it should only cost about $1250 to completely rebuild the tranny. ($500parts +$750 labor). I'm curious what Dave's charges, I've only heard good things about them.

That's for an AW-4 which is also called an A340. The parts price is for rebuild kit with steels (clutches, seals, o-rings, etc.) and torque converter, book calls for 12.5 hours labor. Other parts could push the price higher, like it the separator plate is messed up or if there are parts with exessive wear. I don't see any correction kits for that tranny. Peter only does about 1 a month. We usually get them in on a tow truck , pull the pan and see broken parts, its pretty obvious at that point when one needs rebuilt. If the tranny is shifting properly and slipping its most likely bad clutches which means it needs to come out.

Jeep went to the tranny shop today. Told them about the tranny slipping a little in overdrive around highway speeds. Also got my new power brake booster today too, didn't get it installed before I took it in. They said a vacuum leak can cause the problem that I'm experiencing, also the cruise control has never worked right, I simply disconnected it. They said that could have something to do with it too. Well hopefully it's something simple like one of those.

Got the Jeep back today. Dave's Transaction said that the secondary brake switch above the brake pedal was out of adjustment. This would cause the tranny to shift out of overdrive with little bumps. Causing the tranny to jump back and forth into overdrive. They didn't charge me ANYTHING!....Sweet, these guys total rock! Said the tranny looked good too

Got the power and ground wires wired up on the Jeep tonight Wired it along the inside of the unibody frame rail... Used a hammer on the ends up against the corner of the reciever hitch to crimp the wires Did a pretty good crimp, for not having the proper tool Location of the quick connect for the reciever mounted winch The wiring mess in the engine compartment, left enough room on the positive cable to put a disconnect in-line near the battery.
