Got the fuel cell in and the battery box mounted. Just got to add straps now to the tank and it won't go anywhere. dont think i am gonna keep the light bar, not sure yet. also ripped out all the wiring in the dash, and now have 3 switches hooked up; one for all power (a kill all switch; has the neat little red thing over top of it), one for the windsheild wipers, and the starter button. the column is obsolete! now i just gotta rig something on the roof to mount them to.

if you decide to get rid of the light/roll bar, let me know how much you want for it...(as long as it fits in my Ford)

will pm you first buzzer if i decide to get rid of it. it looks good sitting there, but just not sure. we dropped the dual tanks, so there's a lot of weight reduction there.
Update: was thinking last night; i might be dropping the dual tanks in the daily chevy and putting a single tank in the back, the same idea as with the mud truck. then just put the light bar in the back. i would then have to pull the tool box, but would put all that stuff in a box that i could just toss in the back as needed.

Finally came up with a name for the play truck. We are calling it "Kiss This" thanks to Aaron Tippin (picture this weekend of the back window sticker). Will be putting new push rod and gaskets back on this weekend and fire it up, take a test drive to see what's gonna happen after that whole bent rod issue the other week. Have exhaust to cut apart and make straight pipes out of; not wanting to run regular open headers because of points and fear of sucking mud and/or water up into the engine. And because i don't wanna repost pictures; link to the carnage from discovering i only had 7 cylinders: poorboy1.proboards31.com/index.cgi?board=4x4&action=display&thread=4849&page=1 Got enough problems from running on 7 cylinders for who knows how long dont wanna tempt fate any more than i have to.

So as those older and wiser than me predicted, my heads are now bad. I will be making the trip to Rainer to get the ones off of Charlie's 307. They're going to give me better compression, tho. He offered to loan me the 307, but I am not changing my registry with 3 races because of it, lol.

The heads you are getting, are they the ones he just rebuilt? The double hump 461 heads with the 57 CC ratio? If so, those are great heads and you should notice a nice bit of power difference. LOL.. You might even beat him even after he gets the big block up and running :-).. Wouldn't that be funny ....

I can only wish that i would beat him in his big block lol. I am going to try to pull the heads (well, its only one thats bad, but no way am i leaving the "good" one on when the other is bad) and have it covered before i leave for the weekend. yeah, as far as i know its the ones he just had done. it helps to be such good friends that he loans me valuable engine parts. after all, i'll let him ride a run or two with me this year.

Got it all tore down, and put the new heads on. Charlie found me a set of... i think they are vortec heads (something like that) and now they are sitting on, waiting for the intake to show up on Tuesday. Then hopefully it will be running and take for a test drive tuesday night. Here's a shot of it without heads or exhaust hooked up yet. Considering how dirty it was prior to the tear down this is pretty cool. It is a lot cleaner inside than we all thought. Not many shavings from the broken push rod, but still gonna do an oil change.

Vortec heads are nice, should make a difference in power.

Yeah, we figured it is going to add 30 to 40 horses, but that is the combination of heads and intake. i think the compression goes from like 8:1 to 9.5:1... i think that sounds right....?

Charlie brought home the new intake. It's one of the only brand new things on the truck.
