That looks so good. Are you going to try and make the hood open and close/ lock on it's own, or keep it removable?

Found some loose steering components after the last run. Actually found a broken steering arm gusset that was patched from TTC. made a new better gusset and got everything back together and on its wheels again. A little in cab clean up and its ready for a run. Old gusset from passenger side that is not broke New gusset

Wow its been a while since I updated here. I've messed around with suspension geometry a little and am still chasing a mean vibration in the drive-train when using brakes. I think I have it figured out but is gonna cost some big money to fix so for now I will live with it. Hopefully I can freshen up the motor before too long. Its over 6 years old and has seen some pretty sever use from a couple TTC's to lots of sand dune use. Its getting a lil tired. Still runs great but like an old horse just doesn't have the kick it should. After trying to follow Josh's updates for a week at TTC online, it has given me a renewed spirit of trying to get back down there again. In that we have decided to see if Kim can do better than me the last time we were there. Not completely sure a past rig will ever get enough votes but what the hell we will give it a try. Spent a couple hours stripping decals and trying new paint colors on it. I already know I will miss how it looks but if I really dont like it when its done its only an arm full of paint cans away from its old look. Purple and carbon fiber will be the new colors, way different look for sure. Started by using photo shop and playing with colors, everything under the rainbow and ended up with this. Next thing to do was see if we could find an option in a rattle can. This is poorboy after all. So Kim had the task of finding the color. This is what we ended up with. Not totally convinced this was a good idea we decided to take one fender off and give it the new color. Braiden approved as seen with her modeling pose. Next was to try it out on the truck and squint our eyes to see if we could envision the hole truck like that. We convinced ourselves that with some stickers and replacing the checkered flag on the back with something similar that it just might look ok. Again Braiden approved with her pose. After committing to the color change it was time to pull the TTC badges from the sides. I really liked the look so it was not an easy decision to make but in the end it is only paint and stickers so the removal began. This is how it sits now waiting for more paint and less rain.

Here are my quick and dirty tube doors. I started making half doors but my body panels are so screwed up they did not look right. I started by cutting the door open and getting the stock latch mechanism out. I then welded it in the unlock position as not to have issues later with it. After it was welded I trimmed the extra off so I could box it in. I started by making a mounting plate for it. Then started to box it in.

Almost completely boxed in. At this point if I wanted to take the time to make it serviceable I would make the bottom removable. I do shit the hard way though and just welded it up. The latch is just a simple lever. I chose an old wrench. Here it is with the top on it. It unlatches very easy. The latch on the truck. I didnt go fancy with the bars because well like I said it was down and dirty. I just ran a flat plate to connect the hinges as well. If I want to give it a cleaner look later I can add another bar and box in over the hinges. The finished product.

what's up with the carbon fiber? is that vinyl? I wanted to do some on the hood of the vw golf. cars all black except the white replacement hood and was thinking of rapping it in carbon rather than painting it.
