I had not read that it was illeagle to wheel up there till today, and i was up there yesterday and spoke with a ranger, he told me. I am wondering if there are enough guys here that are interested in wheeling up there because the ranger was telling me that with enough interest and organization that it would be posible to make some 4x4 trails!!!! I live in salem and it is alot closer then TSF.
For thoughs who have never been there are a few rock quarys, could make some nice natural mud pits. Its great for a beginner now, but i think some difficult trails could be easly made.
So thoughs who are intersted and would be willing to invest some time into trail building at "Crooked Finger" raise your hand!

these are directions to camp dakota wich is about 1 mile before the gravel starts (took them off there site) so go 10 miles insted of 9 and you get to the gate...i would l ike to find a airiel map of the area to get a good overlook of it!
Or from I5 coming South...
From Interstates 5 take the Woodburn exit. Turn left at the first stop. Follow this road about 2 miles to Hwy 99. Turn right on Hwy 99 and drive about 2 miles. Turn left on Hwy 214 to Silverton / Mt. Angel. When you get to Mt. Angel, watch for the signs directing to Scotts Mills. Turn left and follow the signs to Scotts Mills. When you get to Scotts Mills, turn right on Crooked Finger Road and drive exactly 9 miles. Look for our sign on the right.
Directions from the Salem Area...
From Salem take Silverton Road (Hwy 213) to Silverton. Follow the signs through Silverton to Hwy 213 towards Molalla/Oregon City. Follow 213 about 6 miles out of Silverton turn right at the Scotts Mills turn -off (MT. Angel/Scotts Mills Hwy.) Follow Mt.Angel/Scotts Mills Hwy 3 miles into Scotts Mills. Turn right onto Crooked Finger Road. Follow Crooked Finger exactly 9 miles to our entrance on the right.
Directions from Silver Falls State Park
Take Hwy 214 to Silverton. When you get to Silverton, follow the signs to Hwy 213 towards Molalla / Oregon City. Take Hwy 213 about 6 miles out of Silverton turn right to Scotts Mills. Follow Mt. Angel/Scotts Mills Hwy 3 miles into Scotts Mills. Turn right on to Crooked Finger Road. Follow Crooked Finger exactly 9 miles to our entrance on the right

I thonk that we need to put someone in charge of this. I would be willing but I do not know the area and my wheeler is still down. But like I said I have no problems helping clearing trails, cleaning up whatever it takes to keep a local place open.

is there any update info on this info here,.......... we live just on the other side of the river from scotts mills.....litteraly, i can see it off my deck. anyhow. i take my son up there shooting......and my husband kinda knows the trails up there when it was open. Crooked finger ties into sawtell and butte creek. its a beautilful area. I locate underground utilities out here and the pge maps are awesome and show every fortestry road, but trying to copy those would take forever.... believe me, i tried getting the overlay from my boss, but he cant copy it for me! we're interested! courious!? with the mud bog being local in molalla nov 3.........think if we get signatures from ppl there, that could help push them to open back up to 4x4's. most boys at the bog are locals.......

I guess this is where the workshop from the past weekend comes in. I got a lot of info on how to get this area designated for wheeling. i can take a look to see who we need to talk to. i guess if no one else wants to step up, you know, be a rep or an advocate if that's what you call it then i can. maybe someone can take me out on a tour of the area next weekend? i would like to see this place before i go pulling strings to get it opened up. (lol, pulling strings... haha, that brings back memories)

I am always ready to support a new trail getting opened. as for adopting another one, we really havent spent enough time on the one we have. Butlike I said I will do what I can to show support.

Maybe we can support two trails. Like have half the group take care of one and half take care of the other. That way we can take care of a trail that is closest to us. Just an idea.

I'm not opposed to some people wanting to take care of another trail but myself on a personal level have way more than I need with just the one. At the rate we are going on 7-up we have 3 years worth of work just to get it into shape not counting maintaning what we already repaired. We spent the better part of a day just to install two drains. I think off the top of my head there are at least 15-20 more to go by our original survey.
I dont wanna sound like a downer I know what your saying, a trail closer to people may get them more active and thats cool, but as one of the couple people that haul equipment to and from the repair site I cant time wise/financialy support another trail.
If getting a trail opened is just the matter of some cleanup partys or assisting another club then I'm all for that too.
You saw the responce I got when asking who wants to step up and be a trail rep on 7-up. I got just 2-3 people stepping forward out of the whole group. This is ok I am happy to have the honesty of people who dont think they can fully commit versus someone saying ok then 2 months later backing out.
I guess what I am really trying to say here is I would rather see another club step forward and take the reigns on officially adopting another trail and then we can step in/assist them with manpower on repairs or what not with out all the other responsibilties.
