This is a very IMPORTANT meeting to go to. I read thru the minutes and they are already talking about giving up 4wd trails to motorcycles due to the cost of maintanence and lack of support at work parties. I WILL be at this meeting and unless work/issues keeps me from going again I will be at the next work party as well. This meeting is in Forest Grove and in the evening so if anyone can show up to at least support our sport it will show we still care about our trails.

Hello Tillamook State Forest OHV users. The Oregon Department of Forestry is submitting an ATV Fund grant application to State Parks on November 30th, 2005 to fund the purchase of trail maintenance materials and to continue current OHV program operations. Materials like trail signs, sign posts, grassgrid block, rock, and reprints of the OHV guide. We are also asking for funding for the replacement of one of the Departments old quads, a 1995 TRX300, for a new TRX350 for trail patrol, assessment and inventory work. The old quad will be donated to the Derrick Lee ATV training center or sold through state surplus. The department still has a need for a second equipment operator position and continual efforts to get the position are being explored. The Department will continue to ask State Parks for monies to support the second equipment operator position for fiscal year 07’. Lastly the department is submitting for 2 months of rental dollars for a 5-yard Morooka rock hauler. This will assist the department in completing some of our big equipment projects associated with the 4WD trails in an efficient and timely manner.
If you support the grant application please write a letter of support and e-mail it to kfoster@odf.state.or.us
or mail letter to:
Oregon Department of Forestry Attn: OHV Program Coordinator 801 Gales Creek Rd. Forest Grove, OR 97116
*I would need your letter of support no later than 11-29-05
*For your convenience I have included a form letter below which you may use as is, or edit to meet your needs. Thank your for your support and call me if you have any questions.

Oregon Parks and Recreation Department Attn: ATV Coordinator 725 Summer Street NE, Suite C Salem, OR 97301-1271
Greetings, All Terrain Vehicle Fund Allocation Committee Members.
I am writing to express my support for the Oregon Department of Forestry’s ATV grant application titled “Tillamook State Forest OHV Operation and Maintenance.”
As an OHV user I greatly appreciate having a place in NW Oregon to recreate on my OHV. It is vital that major improvements continue to be made to the OHV trails in Tillamook State Forest or they will become a target for environmental groups looking to shut down all OHV use in Oregon. Repairing and upgrading the Tillamook State Forest OHV trail system requires continual maintenance, materials, and modern trail equipment. The agency needs more staffing to assist with the operations and maintenance of the designated OHV trail system. This grant will help with continued efforts to upgrade the OHV trail system, repair trails causing resource damage, and increase the number of miles of trails.
Again I strongly encourage the committee’s support for the grant and believe the continued operation and maintenance is vital to keeping one of the largest areas in the state open to OHV use open!
Sincerely,

If you care about your trails in Tillamook forest you will take the time to send this letter. You don't even have to go anywhere. Take a few minutes and you can use his canned letter if ya like. Just help keep the trails open.
