I have 3:73 gears, and the mileage was from the overhead. I penciled the first tank at almost 17mpg around town and it had a really dirty air filter. I haven't refueled since coming back from Puyallup to penile it out. I've read that an exhaust and air intake upgrade could increase mileage almost 2mpg.
