Ok well here is how it started. I started as a hardcore chevy guy and all my friends had toyotas and after wheeling alot with them and seeing all the cheap aftermarket for them I bought a toyota daily drove it and built it a little at a time. well got to the point that I wasn't doing much to it but then my girlfriend got me a dog and well after one trip i realized that we all didn't fit very well. So a guy at work had this scout and it always interested me so I started looking into it. His was a 68 with a v8 and ran awesome. I did a little research and found they came with a 4 cyl and only weighed 300lbs more than my toyota did from the factory and they are roughly the same width. The 4 cylinder scouts only had 68 horse power and had dana 27's factory. Well a buddy had one sitting next to his house for the last 5 years and wasn't doing anything with it so I picked it up for a whopping $600. So I went and picked it up and drug it home to sit until after I made one last trip in the toyota to MUDFEST in Sweet Home, OR. Here she is the day I drug her home. By mudmainac3 at 2011-03-20 and then she sat next to the house till i could get around to doing some work By mudmainac3 at 2011-03-20 By mudmainac3 at 2011-03-20 Well I knew someone that wanted the bumper so I started by cutting that off By mudmainac3 at 2011-03-20 And since the bumper was off i figured why not remove some sheet metal haha By mudmainac3 at 2011-03-20

well while I was stripping my toyota down to get parts for my scout and selling off what I didn't need or want i started stripping and cleaning the scout By mudmainac3 at 2011-04-02 cut the rear bumper off By mudmainac3 at 2011-04-02 then I tore out my toyota axles and the leaf springs with them for the scout By mudmainac3 at 2011-04-02 By mudmainac3 at 2011-04-02 after pulling the axles and springs I found that I had a broken main leaf right at the Ubolt plate luckily I had another set of stock toyota rear springs. By mudmainac3 at 2011-04-02 Then I was self motivating myself By mudmainac3 at 2011-04-02

well then I had also been working on a 4runner for the gf so the scout got left cause her 4runner was a faster project and I have to wheel but I had robbed parts off her 4runner before so I could wheel my truck the year prior so I had to rob the hubs and brakes off the scout to put on her 4runner so we could go wheelin for halloween By mudmainac3 at 2011-10-31 Also put the top back on for the winter By mudmainac3 at 2011-10-31 By mudmainac3 at 2011-10-31 Then I decided I wanted it lower so I put the rear shackle mount off the back of the frame same as I had on my old toyota and added a rear crossmember for strength By mudmainac3 at 2011-10-31 well a buddy of mine is building a samurai and he got a set of toyota IFS rear leaf springs which are longer and need solid axle toyota rear springs so we traded and I swapped out my front springs which lifted the scout a tons so I had to change a few things By mudmainac3 at 2011-11-10 I ended up cutting off the entire front hanger i had build because I didn't like it and then added new tube to the front and a front spring hanger from sky manufacturing and had to drill new frame tubes because the IFS springs are longer Well for Christmas my girlfriend order me some beadlocks for the scout that I told her I wanted By mudmainac3 at 2011-11-10 well I knew I wanted to swap in a 2rz out of a tacoma into this thing so I picked one up from a buddy who was parting out his truggy build I also picked up a w56, dual toyota cases with marlin 10' clocked adapter and marlin 23 spline 4.7 rear transfercase. then I had to shorten his front range transfercase crossmember to fit the scout By mudmainac3 at 2011-12-19 By mudmainac3 at 2011-12-25

well after test fitting the 2rz it didn't fit very well. was actually to big if you can beleive it so I had to cut some of the firewall out and some how got a little cut happy and cut out part of the inner fenders and core support to clear the fan By mudmainac3 at 2011-12-25 By mudmainac3 at 2011-12-25 By mudmainac3 at 2011-12-27 By mudmainac3 at 2011-12-27 By mudmainac3 at 2011-12-27 well I then mounted my tcase crossmember and got ready to mount everything in the scout By mudmainac3 at 2012-01-08

well I was shooting for a frame height under 21" cause my toyota was 20 3/4" and here is the scout height By mudmainac3 at 2012-01-08 By mudmainac3 at 2012-01-08 while rolling around under the scout I realized I needed to check bumpstop clearance cause I didn't think my pathfinder bumps would fit. well they do but in the rear it will be riding on bumps By mudmainac3 at 2012-01-09 front has about an inch before bumps but the pathfinder bumpstops are pretty soft and I wanted the bumpstop to be touching at ride height so they will stop at about 4 to 5 inch uptravel By mudmainac3 at 2012-01-10 I also picked up some LED's for the tail lights and some amber colored ones for turn signals By mudmainac3 at 2012-01-08 also checked driveline angle and checked for length By mudmainac3 at 2012-01-10 well I decided I would start work on my winch mount and the failead mount aswell By mudmainac3 at 2012-01-10 By mudmainac3 at 2012-01-10

ok well got a little work done here and there. I apperantly can't commit to get one thing done at a time haha. I needed to get my steering off and swapped for my heim setup and 6 shooters but have had some of the steel for my mini boat sides/ rock sliders so i cut that stuff up and tacked part of it in place By mudmainac3 at 2012-02-06 well then the weekend came and I promised a buddy the steering and knuckles for his sas on his 4runner so had to pull the front end all apart and get some stuff swapped in so I pulled it all apart and discovered that the front trunion bearings were destroyed and peices were all over in the knuckle. got some pretty good grooves and my chromoly birfeilds are pretty gauged up but still work so whatever. By mudmainac3 at 2012-02-06 By mudmainac3 at 2012-02-06 By mudmainac3 at 2012-02-06 Went to PNP on sat with a buddy got my final 2 pathfinder bump stops so we put them on the front, also got a throttle pedal out of a chevy truck and the steering intermediate shaft from the column to the box. While I had everything apart I figured I would check out how the shocks would fit well. Kinda ran into an issue but I have an idea on how to fix it but haven't gotten to it yet. By mudmainac3 at 2012-02-06 well i went and bought new bearings, seals, and some grease then put the front end together well I was drilling the holes in the frame for the steering box and the drill caught and broke the handle and cut the inside of my hand so I decided it was a good time to quit. It hurt pretty good and just made it hard to grab anything so did some little stuff here and there. Well while looking at the set up I had a bad feeling about my heim setup cause I had never test fit it well put it on and barely clears By mudmainac3 at 2012-02-06 I'm gonna run it and see how it works if it binds i'll deal with it then Also got my seats in today. yeah took me like an hour to post it. and I bought it in febuary and drug it home then didn't get into it to hard till beginning of april. I tore all the axles and what not out of my toyota and sold it off by end of march early april of 2011 so its almost been a year. I'm hoping I can have it running driving by end of march this year. I really wanna take it to sand lake for the sand flea rally.
