Well I've always wanted to build a 85 4runner and when I started dating my gf her dad had one and it just sat next the house and he drove it once a year or so. When he did drive it, it was at the Clark County fair tuff trucks and he beat on it. Here she is in her prime. new 37's and lots of lift it was stolen and had 38.5's on it then he made it wheelable and bought the 37's and then parked it and only drove it in tuff trucks and used 31's. By mudmainac3 at 2012-02-06 Here is what started the end of the tuff truck thing he only did it one year after this before he bought a first gen pulled the motor out of the 4runner and gave my girl the 4runner. well when we got the 4runner the only usable parts or parts I was gonna use were it had an ifs rear end and 63'' chevy springs, solid front axle, w56, forward shift, new 37" toyo mt's, and drivelines. So I found a 85 frame on craigslist so I went and picked it up put it in the garage stripped all brackets I wasn't gonna use and added the brackets for the 63's, rear shock bar from sky manufacturing, and front shock hoops from allpro. Also stripped the frame down and painted it black. cleaned all the brakets off the axles and painted them along with the 63's and picked up a set of solid axle rear springs for the front and made the frame a roller. Then I picked up and automatic v6 4runner tub out of seattle and brought it home. By mudmainac3 at 2011-11-01 got two buddies over and we tossed (faught) the body onto the frame By mudmainac3 at 2011-05-30 well then I had bought a 22re harness and engine out of a 4runner that supposedly ran but cracked a head so there was a brand new head and upgraded cam I picked up painted everything install the harness painted the dash parts cause they were all red everything was red seats, carpet, dash, everything By mudmainac3 at 2011-05-30 well we had to bring the 4runner to our new house so I loaded it up and brought it home By mudmainac3 at 2011-11-01 well when I got it home I couldn't wait to get the 37's on so I tossed them on before I even got it off the trailer. By mudmainac3 at 2011-11-01 By mudmainac3 at 2011-11-01 it had a 1.5" body lift at this time and just rear springs up front and the rear chevy's had an overload so I had to pull it out and lower it along with pushing the front end farther forward By mudmainac3 at 2011-11-01

ok well we wanted to have it done to drive down to rod run at long beach but when adjusting the valves apperantly they guy I got the motor from put bent valves in the truck so I had to pull it and swap in the 22re I had bought to put in my scout in her truck so we could drive it. well didn't make it to rod run but made it to the woody's 4x4 show and shine but the ecu fried on the way there it would run but randomly shut of and refire very quickly. here is the first time we drove it. Took it out to dinner. By mudmainac3 at 2011-11-01 Well halloween run was comin up and I hadn't been wheeling since MUDFEST and I NEEDED TO GO WHEELIN!!!!!!!!!! So we swapped some hubs on it shortened my square tube driveline out of my old toyota truck and went to brownscamp. welded rear and suspension. most stock truck i've ever wheeled at brownscamp. well I figured out it was a little low for the tires and needs bumpstops because it caved in the rear fenders and my girl friend freaked out cause she wanted it so nice. By mudmainac3 at 2011-11-01 By mudmainac3 at 2011-11-01 It did very well for what it is did lots of trials but I had to watch how I drove it and made it home no broken parts By mudmainac3 at 2011-11-01 I actually drove it to work the whole week after we got back. Ok well did some exhaust work and swapped in some racing style seats. swapped out the 8" wheels for my 10" wheels with rock rings. Then I took it snow wheelin on black friday. Took this thing to browns camp on new years for a hangover run. did alot more trails and still didn't break even took it through airplane hill did the bypass but just didn't wanna smash anything with no sliders yet on the rocks. don't know where all the pictures for that run got to but I'll find them. The misses is gettin really into wheeling this thing now and she learned what the rev limiter is and I can't keep her off of it so she wants to build the motor up like I had in my old truck and she is doing dual cases. probably gears this summer. then front locker and chromoly axles are next
