Well it's not totally sealed lol. My cousin did a pretty shitty jon on the bottom and it was around freezing when we did it. Atleast it stays in place now...

If you're just swapping to the D35 it's an afternoon project, pretty simple really. You going to shorten your stock front drive shaft?

Yeah my cousin knows what we need to do, and I don't lol. He has done this before on his ranger before he sas'd it. I personally don't have a lot of the tools or skills(I'm not confident in my welding skills) to do this alone otherwise I'd be all over it.

-jack up truck and support frame with jack stands -remove front tires -pull out caliper pins, tie up with wire (you can use the stock ones on the new axle) -take a 1 1/8" wrench or socket and loosen the radius arm nuts -remove the front drive shaft, you'll need a T25 bit and probably a 1/4" wrench to get those buggers out, not a whole lot of room for a ratchet -take the steering linkage nut loose at the pitman arm and take linkage off of the pitman arm (stick a large hammer on one side of the pitman arm and hit the other side with another hammer, this should loosen it up) -remove pivot bolts -remove radius arm nuts off the rest of the way the axle is now loose, might have to turn the coils a little to get them loose -install new axle in whatever order works best
The hardest part is wrapping your head around what has to be done for the alignment the first time

I'm more worried about the rear axle. I have heard the front is dang near bolt on. Bu the rear i need to weld on the spring perches and I think the shock mounts. Which reminds me I still need u bolts and new bolts to hold on the explorer leaf springs.

yeah, swapping in an explorer 8.8 is harder than putting in a D35, and a welder is definitely needed and a good one at that as the axle tubes are thick.
There's a possibility that the rear flange on the rear drive shaft won't bolt up to the 8.8, but I've heard of people drilling and taping the flange for the old size bolt pattern

Well the forecast says my "shops" roof is gonna be leaky for a few weeks, but I'm gonna set up a canopy and just get going. I don't need another driveway ornament right now and for whatever reason I'm super motivated today. Wish me luck lol

So the rain is being very intermittent, so I'm taking a break while it comes down hardest. Here's where I started. And here's where I got to. You can't see it but the driveline is also unhooked.
