YOUR Oregon OHV Dunes Trail Riding Is Endangered!
The Forest Service is now planning to close 103 miles of riding trails
within Coos Bay,
Winchester Bay, and Florence OHV Areas!
Years ago over 90% of the ODNRA was open to OHV use but through the years
it's been reduced
to approx 38%. We cannot afford to lose another approx 15-17%. There is an
advisory committee
that will turn in a recommendation later this year on how to implement that
plan, which makes up a lot
of our riding area that is mostly trails that run through the vegetated
areas.
The Forest Service has already held several 10-C Designated Route Plan
meetings dealing with the
Florence, Winchester Bay and Hauser/Spinreel dunes.
This alert is your notification to take ACTION on the impending closures at
the Oregon Dunes National
Recreation Area (ODNRA). Within the Siuslaw National Forest, the ODNRA is
managed by the National Forest Service. Please RESPOND to the USFS by
cutting and pasting the note below, adding your personal comments using the

OHVPLAN is a one-for-all and all-for-one OHV Positive alert system so please

OHV recreation injects $84.1 million per year into the local economies of
Florence, Winchester Bay, and Coos Bay according to a 2008 OSU study. Most
riders state that they will not return to the ODNRA to ride if the trails
are
outlawed. They will go to places closer to home. Riders come to the ODNRA
from
all over the Western United States for the diversity of riding, in the open
dunes and on sand trail system. If this money is no longer being put into
the
local economies, this may be the demise of many of these small towns. PLEASE
STOP THE CLOSURES.
