looking good man. looks like you still might have some fender rubbage when it flexes may want to kick the angle out on the fenders a little more, just my opinion idk you may have already flexed if fine but i know how much it sucks to get out there and chose between wheeling and tearing up tires. on the pass side is that the exhaust hanging down? just wondering looks like something that would get caught up. either way man i followed this build and it looks like youve made a ton of progress and have built a great rig congrats.

the rear end install is finally complete. yay. i went out newberg yesterday and picked up a front axle from an 84 ramcharger. its got the 5 on 5 1/5 bolt pattern with the auto hubs. so now i can get away from the bad wheel bearing design of the 5 on 4 1/2 set up. ill be doing that swap as soon as i get the rims. hey does anyone have a posi unit for a dana 44?

If you havn't yet, pop those covers off that you think are auto-hubs. I was surprised myself pulling an older Chevy D44 apart and found it had solid drive-flanges behind those covers. I put them in Ashley's race truck and havn't had any problems.

Those should be solid flanges not auto hubs.

They is probably from an '85 and up. I believe in '84 was the last year for lockout and '85 and up they went to the "auto" hubs. Looking good, you'll be ready for SB in no time.

i did a little work on the RC over the last few days. built some brackets for shackles for the front. built, painted and installed. i believe the guy told me the front axle was from an 83 ramcharger. as far as the vacuum crap goes, im only using the outer ends. i was going to swap the whole axle but changed my mind when i saw the vacuum motor. should have everythingt swapped over in a few weeks.

The vacuum solenoid is easy to get rid of. You can get a longer shaft and replace the 2 shorter ones on the long side and get a block off plate. Then it's basically the same, but will be fulltime 4wd unless you put lockout in. They didn't start using the vacuum solenoids till '85. They may have snuck them in on a few trucks at the end of '84, but I've never seen one. '81-'84 should all be 5x5.5 bolt pattern with lockouts.
