i have an 89 cherokee with a non HO 4.0 with an auto tranny. im looking at a 93 HO 4.0 also an auto tranny. i know the motor will bolt in and hook up. but the question is all i need to do to complete the swap is the HO computer right? or what else will i need from the donor rig? any info will be greatly appreciated. thanks guys. you can call me 360-326-5813. my name is terry.

Shouldn't matter with the computer. The 4.0L HO motor just has a different cam in it from what I was told. Our 1988 Cherokee Limited came with the 4.0L HO motor. The only difference should the wiring plug ins, you'll have to use the wired parts on the 1989.

The engine he is taking out is the engine I got from you, Ken. I was told by Jeep, that in 1988 they put the High Output 4.0L motor only in the Limited Models and later put decals on the rigs that had them. That was part of the "Limited" package ;D

So, the engine that is in it is a ho4.0l then. Sense its the original Eng out of your 88 limited(that blows enough smoke after idling for a few min to kill every mosquito in the county)
