in the past the idea of the chrismas tree trip was for people to bring the family and whatever wheeler/dd they had so trail damage was no concern, well that and there arent any trails where we got our trees before. I'm sure people will go do trails since they are there. Not even 100% that I am going. I'm 100% you are going if we have to hog tie you and drag you from your bed ;D

MY WIfe, Liz, And I would like to thank you guys for letting us hang with ya yesterday! We had a great time! Seeing as how it was her very first time on an semi-organized trail ride, she was very impressed with the camaraderie of the group, as was I. And its nice to finally put a face on the names here. Great pics and videos. Too bad we took off in a rush, and forgot to check the camera batteries! LOL So no pics from us this time, sorry! Looking forward to the 9th! Thanks for comming with us! It was nice meeting you and your family. Your JEEP Rocks. I love the sound of it and how the front end bounces when you are going up hills. It reminds me of a pack-man eating up the dots as it flys up the hills. Hope to see you soon!

Yes I don't want to give away the drunk guy story. But it is a funny one. I am hoping someone else will talk about the guy that first broke his front end and later we found him off the side of the road and his front diff was the only thing holding his truck on the side of the road. I think SteveO has some pictures of Josh winching him back up. Come on lets hear the story!!! You didnt become a postwhore by keepin quiet!!

OK, Story time So we started out the day on the rocky part of fire brake 5 and we were following this group of rigs in front of us that included this F.O.R.D. (We knew we were in for a treat). The guy and his friends were drinking and he couldn't keep his truck running. It kept loading up and dieing at just about any angle. After about 5 minutes in the tuff part of the trail, he managed to bash his way up past the rocks and then the group went on, out of our sight. We stayed on the hill for a little while why we waited for a poor-boy Chevy blazer with a big butt (14 bolt) to make it¡¦s way past the rocks, then off we went. We met up with the guys in the FORD later up the trail and you could tell they were having a tuff time walking at this point. They were throwing empty beer cans in the back of the truck and one of them was staggering around holding the remains of a 24 back of beer. They managed to get into the FORD and amazingly got it started (it was on flat ground). Their group started up the next part of fire brake 5 and the FORD was in the middle of the group with two trucks behind them. At the top of the first hill the trail makes a hard left and you have to squeeze between a tree stump about three feet high on the left side and a tree on the right side of the trail with little room to spare in a full sized truck. Both the Stump and the tree have roots sticking out into the trail and it takes a little finesse to make it through this spot of witch the drunk people had none¡K They hit that spot and got stopped. The rigs behind him stayed back so Tyler and I had a perfect popcorn spot for the carnage to unfold¡K. Every time he hit that spot his tires would start spinning and I was able to see the diffs were not locked up. So what¡¦s a drunk guy suppose to do? Hit it harder, of course! Don't get out and look at it, or ask for help.. Never.. Well each time he would hit that spot, the motor would be revving a little harder and the front wheels would bounce up in the air then at the last second, just before the tires would hit the ground again, the drive would back off the gas. I was on the CB telling all our PB¡¦s to watch him this will be good. Sure enough, the last time he hit the root spot with his foot firmly planted to the floor, the wheels bounced up about 3 feet in the air and down the truck crashed¡K. This time he never removed his foot so the motor was full revving when the free spinning wheels came crashing down¡K. And a loud snap was heard¡K. Hmmm.. I wonder why? So the drunk guy¡¦s backed up and looked under his truck being very careful not to spill his beer then he got back in the truck and tried it again and again.... His friends were shouting at him saying ¡§if you couldn¡¦t make it in 4 wheel drive, you sure are not going to make it now¡¨¡K. Well one time he backed up a little too far and could not take back off. This gave his friends behind him room enough to go around him and that is what they did, leaving him there on the hill as they went to play some more. The drunken FORD guy ended up backing down beside the PB group so we could go past him. So we pass him and wheel on, thinking we will not see him again. Later in the day, we are up on top of the hill enjoying the snow when the rest of that group showed up. We talked to them a little and they voiced their anger at the person driving the FORD and they had told him to ¡§go home¡¨. We all had a good laugh then they go a call saying the drunk guy had driven off the road on his way out and was needing help. So that group took off and the Poor Boy group went the other way to wheel at 7up and Hogs back. Low and behold we rounded a corner to find the drunken guy ¡V Way out in the woods the wrong way from the free-way ¡V off the road; The truck is hanging off a drop off and being held on by one rear tire, half off the road and the front diff in smashed into a tree stump. A search and rescue jeep was backed up and strapped to a tree on the other side of the road. He has his winch running down to the front to the ford and he had the back of the ford strapped to across the road to another tree. Josh ended up putting a second winch on the front of the Ford and with both wiches pulling at almost their capacity¡K They were finally able to move the beast up to the road. We had to do a lot of convincing to get the drunken guy to get back into the FORD and turn/hold the wheel so the tires would roll back up onto the road while they were winching him. After that some of us poor boys told him to "GO HOME" and left to wheel some more. Then later Ken came up and saw him again and helped drive him out to the freeway. I tell you, I looked yesterday morning in the paper expecting to see that FORD piled up into someone¡¦s house on the way home. They were so drunk when we saw them last, one of them was walking around sideways and staggering all over the place.

Good story!!! I know a lot of the places that happened (yay! exciting for me!). Did he get in trouble for the drinking and the driving, or is the search and rescue vehicle only able to help, not bust people?

When we found them, we pasted them, they followed in behind us, we stopped at 7-Up to play in the snow (and a potty break), One of them came up and asked us how to get back to the highway, told them to follow us down to South Fork Rd. where they should be able to get to the highway from there. As we came up to Hogs Back, noticed a bunch of wheelers, was trying to see who it was, some of the rigs looked fimilar, but weren't PBs. The guy in the Ford said he thought those were his friends. I asked if he was with PoorBoy, and he said he had been with them for a while, I misunderstood what he ment, I think it was about getting pulled out, I thought he was talking about being on the PB web site. I told him, with his damaged, he was better off to call it a day and head home, and I would still get him down to the road he needed to get to the highway. Thats about when Josh showed up and told he wasn't with PB.

The search and rescue jeep guy didn't say anthing to him that I am awaire of. I don't know if he had the ability to do anything about it.... Us Poor Boy's didn't want to make too many waves with his drunk butt, but the drunk ones knew we were not happy with him drinking and wheeling. I am sure if we said much more there would have been a fight.
