My Ranger is currently semi broken... by that I mean it needs a new radiator, rear U joint yoke, and a couple main leafs... , the Ranger sure proved itself pulling the sled though, it put some serious power down...

Dug into it the other day and found the passenger side axle tube twisted in the pumpkin... gonna bandaid it by just moving that spring pad back to where it lines up with the other side...

That tractor pull run did a number on the ol Ranger, but until Sunday it was good to go, then I went and ran into a log and bent things up a bit and broke a motor mount... in the near future it will get extended radius arms and a few other goodies that it's been needing...

Sounds like you have some work to do as well.

Yeah, it's crossed my mind, I'm leaving those thoughts until I'm caught up on some things then doing it to a 5.0L explorer once I find one... I had fixed everything from the tractor pull before April, the broken parts list included: Radiator, transfer case (broke the snap ring groove for the rear output bearing off), rear driveshaft, one leaf spring, and twisting the axle tube. The list from last weekend includes a broken drivers side motor mount, bent radius arm bracket, tweaked frame (from the radius arm bracket, gonna try to pull it back over, should work), bent passenger side axle beam. That's only about 3 hours of work (add two for the motor mount...) and I should be able to get it back on the road on Sunday. The good thing about this suspension is even though it was a bad thing to run into that log, it didn't really screw it up bad enough to make it so I couldn't drive home, winched it back into shape as good as we could in the snow then drove it home, and it didn't even drive that bad

The Ranger is down yet again... Last saturday on my way home from Summer Bash (I arrived late, and didn't stay long) I had driven from Hopewell to Sand Lake and got back to McMinnvile (the back way from Beaver to Carlton) and 1/2 mile from my moms house I was crossing 99W and halfway across the road I suddenly lost oil pressure and had a ticking noise, pulled over and was loosing oil bad so I thought it was just an oil line or something. Grabbed a tractor from my moms and drug it to her house. Parked it for the night, went home and grabbed the big truck and trailer, drug it to the trailer with a tractor then tried to drive it on the trailer and the engine stopped turning which is when I learned it's fate... The stupid thing is the bottom end of the 2.3L's is supposed to be able to handle 400hp without issues, not sure how I broke it pushing maybe 200hp...
This time I'm going to do some upgrades to help it run better, switch to the '87/88 computer and airflow sensor and am thinking about spending some coin on new higher compression pistons...

It only took me 2.5 years to blow that last engine rebuild? that's sad... Same page on here even...
Anyway, the wallet is sore now, just ordered over $300 in parts for the ol Ranger and started ripping into the donor short block to find a bad crankshaft... time to dig into the spare parts crate, the spare crank is of course at the bottom of a 3' tall, 3'x5' crate with a couple hundred pounds of junk on top of it...
Anyway, hoping to have it back on the road by the end of January if possible...

I'm on the road to being completed... hopefully tomorrow evening I'll have the pistons cleaned up and maybe put in their homes... after that I'll button up the bottom end with the oil pan that I got yesterday, then off to find a turbo...
