i have a freezer big enoug for maybe 2-3 tires but keepin them frozen by the time you were ready to race is another story

got the last of the interior bars installed. also got the windshield bars in and hood pins made. need to cut holes and run chains then time for paint.

WGAS Motorsports and their agents assume no responsibility for liability regarding these rules and their use. All cars will be inspected before the derby by track officials. All cars hood and trunk area will be opened for Inspection. All winning cars may be re-inspected prior to leaving the arena area and before payout. No pit crew members will be allowed in the arena during the re-inspection of winning cars. Drivers can be scored down or disqualified, if they have not complied with the derby rules and /or the officials decision in tech inspections. No additional welding will be allowed on any vehicle following tech. The Derby is open to any American made hardtop model stock car or station wagon. NO full frame Imperials. Unitized body Imperials are okay. No Trucks, Commercial Vehicles or Convertibles allowed 1. All glass, all chrome, exterior mirrors, headlights, taillights, chrome rings, emblems, grills and flammable Materials must be removed. Glass cannot be rolled down, it must be removed. Rear seats must be removed. All car preparations must be done prior to coming to the event. 2. Doors must be chained and welded shut securely, welds cannot exceed one foot (12 inches) on any one side, top or bottom of all doors. Welding example: 1-12 inch weld, or 2- 6 inch welds with a gap separating them, or 4 B 3 inch welds with a gap between the welds. Weld not to exceed four, (4), feet per door total. All chains on vehicles must be at least a minimum 3@ inch chain and a maximum of 2 inch chain. No chain can exceed 3 feet in length anywhere on the vehicle. 3. A behind driver, safety bar is mandatory and may be welded or bolted behind driver seat from side to side. A safety bar on driver side door area is mandatory and optional on passenger side, but is recommended. The driver door side bracing must not exceed front windshield post to no more than 18 inches behind the driver seat. Bar may not run the full length, inside of vehicle. The safety bar and crossbar bracing cannot exceed 6 inches in diameter. Window post to window post bracing is allowed and recommended. No other bracing is allowed. 4. Trunk lids may be chained and bolted. Maximum bolt, 1 inch in diameter B maximum washer size, 3 inches in diameter and no more than 3 inch thick. Only two (2) bolts are allowed on trunk, a maximum of four (4) chains no longer than 3 feet each may be used. 5. Hoods: Bolts or chains or all threads through hood to frame or wheel well are OK. Maximum of (6) six chains. You must have a minimum 6 X 6 inch hole cut in hood for fire safety. Through hood exhaust is OK. 6. Vertical window bars are mandatory. Minimum of two (2) with a maximum of (3) bars or bands must be used. A window screen is allowed so long as the vertical bars are also installed and screen can be easily removed for driver safety in an emergency. 7. Bumpers must be OEM stock, (automotive). Stock brackets may be welded to bumper & frame. No braces welded or added to bumper. Bumper cannot be welded to car body. No reinforcing with added metal. No wrapped, backed or reinforcing of bumper. Automotive makes may be swapped. - brackets MUST be of that car. Impacts are OK. 8. No chains or U-Bolts allowed around body to frame on any car. If chain is needed after a heat or repairs, you must contact track official for approval and inspection prior to and after the repairs. No exceptions. 9. No raising or lowering of car. Cars must be in stock position. Bumper height will be measured by officials and must be within factory specifications. Maximum height from ground to bottom of bumper not to exceed nineteen, (19), inches. No coil to leaf conversions. Only stock automobile springs. No extra leafs, no tape or welding on springs. OEM shackles only. Previously run derby cars with broken springs or shackles can be repaired during the day of the derby only, and supported by chains around or through the frame, and only with two (2) bolts. 10. No trailer hitches. No objects protruding outside of car. No severely pre-dented cars. No per run, severely dented cars. If officials determine that a car is unsafe it will not be allowed to run. 11. Gas tanks must be a safe container and made of steel. Example: Jeep can, boat tank and must be approved by an official. NO PLASTIC containers. Gas tanks must be securely placed and must be bolted and/or chained solid. Tanks must be capped and placed directly & securely behind the driver area or in the center of the rear seat area. Stock gas tanks cannot be used and must be removed from the vehicle. NO electrical or pressure type fuel systems. Exception: newer model cars equipped with fuel injection systems that run with electrical fuel pumps, an electrical AKill Switch@ must be added, placed and marked where an official can easily shut it off from outside the vehicle. (Roof of car is the best location). 12. Batteries must be removed from engine area and moved to the inside of vehicle and placed in a secure mounted and approved battery box, placed in the passenger floor area. All batteries will be covered with rubber inner tube to protect the driver. No wooden boxes or plastic milk crates. 13. Radiator must be stock automobile and in original stock position. No additional radiator supports or mounts, only wire or plastic ties may be added. No water inside of car. 14. Firewall must be stock with no large holes, all holes must be covered. 15. No truck third members. 16. Safety belts and or lap harness belts are required. Seat belts must remain buckled during the entire time of the event. EXCEPTION: FIRE. 17. Approved safety helmets are required, and must stay on during the entire length of time of the derby. 18. Body to frame hardware and bushings must be OEM Stock. Frames must be in OEM condition. 19. Must remove inside spare tire compartment lid and all seats, except the front seat from station wagons. 20. No grooved or double tires, no farm tires, regular automotive tires must be used, not to exceed 8 ply (7.00x15) No cement, hoops, liners or fluids in tires. Water is OK. Tire rating must be clearly legible on tire. 21. Car numbers must be 18 inches and letters must be 10 inches on both sides and top of car. Use a clearly contrasting paint from the color of the car, so it is visible and readable to the officials & announcer. Any multi-car entries must have separate numbers. 22. No pre-dented or mangled automobiles. Officials may not allow severely dented or bent cars. 23. A vehicle discharging heavy smoke after an event has started may be disqualified. All vehicles must tech to the 2009 Rules B Previously run cars included. Note: OEM means original equipment of the manufacturer. VEHICLE OPTIONS 1. Floor Shift. 2. Locked rear ends. 3. Radiator fans. 4. Hand throttle B (Return Springs). 5. Springs may have two (2) clamps per side, 3 inch in thickness and not over 1-1/2 inches in width, with two (2) bolts per clamp. These cannot exceed the thickness and width stated. 6. Transmission coolers. Must be inside of car & covered. 7. Air conditioner radiator, one+ (1) Only. 8. Safety gloves should be worn by all drivers. 9. Drivers door (only) may have a steel /metal plate inside the window area. 10. Mud screen allowed. 11. If dashboard is removed, side to side brace is allowed & recommended in dash position. 12. Fire extinguisher B mounted securely, accessible to officials & driver. 13. Engine, with tech official approval. 14. A hose attached to the transmission filler tube (Burp Tube) for fire safety.

i am not a ford fan, however i have ran some early lincolns, on your car be sure to run a piece of one inch allthread up through the frame and hood. i would either pick a existing frame hole as close to the radiator as you can or simply weld it to the side of the frame. that car not being a "shock bumper" car will want to tuck in and roll funny in the nose. i will try again wednesday to get you on the phone. i am trying to get two cars wrapped up for a show in eastern oregon. yeti

looks to me that passenger side door bar is optional and recommended that is correct, and HIGHLY recommended....... nothing like exploded batteries and a car sitting on the driveline hump!
