just got another runner today, this time its an 84 with a 22r, got it for cheap, and came with the parts to fix the body damage... unfortunately it has some of the classic 4runner rust, wheel wheels, firewall, windshield, under the rear taillights. . . Anyways, this one is going to be just a driver while i build my 87pu, so nothing major, maybe a 3" and 33's.. Here is what i did today, got it round noon, took a couple of hours and a bunch of drilling to get it all apart... FYI there are about oh, 52 spot welds to take this one side apart, i hate spot welds now lol....

ah finally broke out the welder today, had to remember how to weld plugs....... vertically..... well most of em came out better than i would of thought, some didnt ;D.....it all fit pretty well except the inner fender panel must of been universal (solid axle/ifs/2wd?) and i had to cut the opening for the steering box, and trim a bit for the front supports..... All and all for my first real panel replacement project it all turned out ok.... and a finished (without paint) picture... so happy the sheet metal work is over.....for the moment

Yeah you will have to change out your steering box to an ifs one if you decide to run high steer

Yea i got an IFS box in the shadows, but its going to be a street rig for a while and to use crossover you have to have at least a 3" lift so that it will clear.... im planning on either making a drop tie rod, or swapping the ball on the steering knuckle over to the top and flipping the rod over.... either way im using the push-pull for a while, it works good enough for 33's the street and towing...... actually right now im doing the IFS hub/caliper swap and throwing a IFS rear in it with 4.88's front and rear.....(no longfields because there in my built axle for the PU and i aint gona wheel the runner YET lol )

Ok so no pics of the process (due to the camera being missplaced ) but i did find it and get some pics of the final assembly of the wide front end conversion.... For those who dont know you use an IFS hub with 80's land-cruiser vented rotors and ifs calipers, i had to machine the ear down on the caliper a little bit, (i think it was about .15 or something like that) but it all works good now.... also took the steering out and put it into the press and straightened it, will have a spare now..... on that note, i know im going to need new brake lines before i wheel it but for the street im just gona stretch out the steel lines

been sick, and tired. so havent got much done, did however get the particle board and wood tools out and make some rear quarters for the inside.... gona smear em in fiberglass resin tomorrow and then cover em with black vinyl, put some speaker holes in and some door holes also.... wood sucks to work with, but this was way easy for some reason

haven't posted an update in a while, got a lot of stuff done, have even drove it around a bit.....
got the rear panels covered in vinyl and some speaker boxes installed.... Got given some autogauge gauges and adapted a diamond plate mudflap into a center console area and mounted them into it and my stereo.... put a smaller grant steering wheel on and fixed the horn lol.....lets see... I would post some pics but the computer is down and im using the wifes laptop..
also on first drive found out i needed to replace the oil pump seal, so while i was there replaced the waterpump, AND put a kick butt aluminum radiator in...... Also found a couple of things i need to do, including.... replace carb with weber (stock one isnt opening secondarys), and most importantly put different springs in the front (my kidneys will thank me).... im thinking im going to do rears up front since i have a set from my 85 layn around, and depending on what lift that gives me might put some ranger leafs in there too... i will post pics when i can.....has anyone had experiance with the RUF swap? lemme know i will have some ?'s

well Sunday i was throwing some new (softer) springs in the front (thanks to leadfoot) and found out my front driveline was seized completely collapsed, which explains why i had such a hell of a time lining up the springs when i put em in, and prob explains why the ride was soo damn harsh..... it feels like i toasted the inside of the cv but thats why they are rebuildable and when i go RUF's im gona need the ends to do a square shaft.....anyways, i also found my stock u bolts will not work so im gona do some custom spring clamps... anyways pics will fallow later....
