First let me start by saying this is not a lockrite. It is usually $412, and Way better on your tires than a $200 spool. Also this does not require any sort of special tools. anyone with a basic set of wrenches can accomplish this task.

You start with the locker fresh out of the box. you can tell that there is a little screw running through it with washers on both sides. DO NOT REMOVE THIS UNTIL COMPLETE.

Then start by opening the case and removing the ring gear and carrier. This is done by removing bolts on each side holding the bearing caps in place, if you look close you can see them on the ground in the pic and also the holes in the housing. there is a bolt on top of them, one on each side that have what looks like a piece of bent wire under them. they run down in a hole, and keep the ring from turning off the bearing/race.(no pic right now SORRY)but you can see the little bolts if you look close. then there is a ring that pushes up tight against the race, with a bunch of holes in it. it is threaded and loosens when spun counterclockwise. (note:)this is the piece that the little bolt on top keeps from unscrewing.

now that you have the ring and carrier out, unbolt the back of the ring gear, and pound it off. (with somethin that wont hurt it )

now unbolt the carrier, and remove the spider gears, the locker will replace them. Bolt completely back together ring gear and all. Now remove the little bolt and washers from the hole in the center of the carrier. this unloads the springs and the locker is ready to go. reinstall the carrier the same way you removed it, but now you will have to adjust the adjustable rings until you have the proper backlash on the gears. you can determine this by spinning the pinion. it is better to use a guage when doing so, but you can get away without one. you want there to be a little slop, but just barely.
