Just got my overhead rescue light back from UPS. Was packaged & shipped from New York UPS store in one piece, when I got it the first time, ended up with a broken lense in the corner and the siren cover top and bottom was dented. I told UPS abpot the damage and they said they would pick it up and take it to UPS Claims in Taulitin Oregon for inspection. I then found out that they shipped it back to NewYork and tried to return it to the person I bought it from. This person asked me if I wanted my money back, I told him NO, I wanted the lightbar, just wanted UPS to be responsible for beating up my package. He had to refuse the package and tell them to send it back to me. UPS was trying to tell me that it was up to the shipper (person I bought it from) to file a claim and fix the damage. The shipper (person I bought it from) didn't do the damage, UPS did. Anyways, I got a hold of UPS Corporate Office and told them I want my package back. I sent numeruois emails and phone calls and finally had to treaten them with an Attorney to get them to give me back my package since they were'nt going to pay for the damages. After inspecting the package again, (3 trips accross the US!) the same lense is now broke in 2 places, the bracket to hold the sirens in place is bent up real bad, the top and bottom siren covers are dented beyond repair, the lower case is cracked from the center to the outside, and one of the pedisal stands is bent. Now UPS said they repackaged the inside before shipping to New York and back to me. TOTAL LIE, I did the best at repackaging the lightbar with what it was packed with and didn't exspect it to go far, plus I told the UPS guy that picked it up to write FRAGILE and THIS SIDE UP on the box and that is was VERY BREAKABLE. At this point the box that it came in looks like a Gorilla beat the snot out of it. I did the best to fix everything I could on my own, but thinking about getting an Attorney and sueing UPS.

This is what I emailed to UPS today.
Would just like to make a comment regarding package 1Z535V0A0395532220. I got this package the first time with shipping damages from UPS (not the shipper) that totaled $150.75 do to miss handling of the package. Told UPS about the damages, and thought it was going to the local UPS claim department here in Oregon for inspection. Then to find out the fagile package was shipped back to New York (to the shipper), and then finally back to me here in Forest Grove, Oregon. I wanted the contents of the package, I didn't want to return the package. The box, now VERY beat up from mishandling of UPS comes back to me with the contents VERY DAMAGED. Now total of damages is $349.20. This is just the cost of the parts and doesn't include shipping and handling charges. Just would like UPS to know that since UPS won't cover any of my damages done to the contents of the package do to mishandling on UPS part, I won't be doing any more shipping with UPS if I can help it. Also telling everyone that I see, know, and will listen to me about what has happened. WHAT IS ONE CUSTOMER WORTH TO YOU?

This is what UPS told me. Thank you for your email. I understand your frustration with the shipper not responding to your calls or e-mails. Unfortunately, we have no control in how the shipper resolves the claim with you, their customer. Since claims are settled only with the shipper, you will need to contact the company or party that sent the package for final resolution. If the shipper has questions about the claim, please have them contact UPS directly. I apologize for the damage to your package. Please note, Brian H. Glick is responsible for all aspects of the shipment transaction; you do not deal directly with UPS. Since your package was shipped on your behalf through Brian H. Glick then that location is considered the shipper. Again, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this damaged package has caused. Please contact us if you need any additional assistance. Richard Sena UPS Customer Service Basically, UPS has NO responsibility for how they handle your package, nice

That is sad, sad, Sad...
Do you have any pictures of the first time and how much worse it looked the second time you got it back? It would be nice to show UPS how it looked before and after. Or maybe even the Ebay pictures of what you bought and what you got :-)

When I was a teenager I worked for ups at the airport. You really don't want to know how they sort the packages. The words fragile and this in up mean nothing. But then again they hire people at minimum wage and are very happy to jump down there employees throat. Fed Ex is definitely the way to go.

I used to work for UPS in Tualatin for 2 1/2 years and yea, you have 3 hours to load 4 package cars in a certain delivery order and people do not care how the packages gets in the package car, but how quickly. UPS sucks!!!

Every package this year for truck parts has been badly damaged. Fortunetly they have been strong parts. twice the boxes were split open, infact the package I got yesturday was split wide open. One before that was even missing a few parts. The dealer I ordered from just sent new parts because ups is difficult to resolve problems with. Luckily this last package had all content still. Even my beadlocks were damaged, just cosmeticaly but still damaged. Our UPS guy wont even knock on our door. He pulls up beside the house and tosses the box on the ground and drives away, no knock, no nothing. We first thought we werent hearing him knock then once heard him pull up so the wife went thru the house to meet him at the door and I went around the house and he didnt even try to knock. just toss and go.

At least the UPS guy that delivers in our neigborhood cares about what he is doing, He is the one that told me all the info to do, and he will even deliver the package to me at work, so its not sitting on my doorstep at home getting wet. At least this part of UPS is good.

Yea my ups guy is like that too, just depends on the people, I know back home it the loading and unloading was done by alot of highschool dropouts (not makeing a drogitory generalization) who litterally couldnt care less how the packages were handled.

My wife and I had some stuff shipped from HI. that we bought when we were there and the box showed up to the house looking like it had been rolled down a hill. Lucky for us the shop we got the stuff from packed it to handle the UPS abuse.
