here is one of the only pics I have of it. I do still own it and it will be on the trail again some day, I think my son wants to build a trail rig out of it. If not I will do something with it after the bronco. It even still has that paint job, just a bit weathered. click thumb nail for bigger pic. If someday I beat the chev up until it is unrepairable I suppose I could start on it sooner.

Wow that is cool! I don't see them around any more. What year is it? Is it still driveable? Didn't know you owned a jeep.

of course I own a jeep, I figure since own one I can hate on em if I want . It is a 1953 willys overlander. I am the 3rd owner. Original owners were the Sierra Ski Ranch in california, then the next owner had it until he passed. I have owned it since about 1995. These are my favorite trucks. It was bone stock when I got it. I pulled the running gear and gave it away and built it to what you see in the pic. When I first moved back to Oregon it was still a wheeler but because I didnt have the frame anymore I didnt have the original vin#'s The ID plate on the firewall doesnt have Vin#s just some serial numbers that are different. I have the title for it but the DMV will have to do a vin inspection to tag it in Oregon so I am kinda stuck there. I have a non factory vin plate in the door jam but dont think that will work. It now is sitting in pieces waiting for a full tube chassis.

I like the old truck, would be a pretty sweet trail truck.

I still have my california title, I tried doing a vin search on cali DMV but my truck is old enough it doesnt have enough #s to be a valid vin for their search. I think I might load it all on a trailer and haul it down to the dmv and get an assembled vehicle title? I can show them it doesnt have a frame so no numbers to inspect? If I knew a tropper I could get him to sign off on it then the dmv wouldnt need to see it? Sucks when everything ya got is legit but it still is so damn hard to do something with it.

I sent the dmv an email, we will see what they say. That is the biggest reason I took it apart was I couldnt tag it at the time. I know I cant afford to build it again any time soon but it is one of those rigs your never part with.

Nice truck. Dont see to many of those on the trails anymore. Im building a '48 willys pickup but since i bought a house and remodeling that got put on hold for awhile so im stuck wheeling the sub for a few more years. It will be cool to get it done running gear is a high pinion 60 front 14 bolt rear sm465 trans 203-205 ford doubler 454 chev 4 link coil spring front and rear. I also have a '53 im going to build for my son when mine is done.

dmv called me back tonight. looks like i will be able to register it but will have to take it to the dmv so they can refer me to the state police so they can give the dmv a recommendation on vin#s. then it will either get registered as is, reconstructed title or most likely due to aftermarket frame it will be registered as a replica. then i can do a perminent special interest plate on it. so all is not lost.

Thats good news, I didnt know other states do perm. plates. In montana if your rig is 11 years old or older you can get perm plates, but there is no inspection.. My willys vin card was long gone, and the jeep was in pieces when I got plates for it.

there is only an inspection because it was last registered out of state. good news is since it was last registered out of state there are no late fees.

he turns 15 next month and is already study'n for his permit. He has to get a carb, wheels/tires, and a lift for his bronco first so it is completed then I will let him start on the Jeep.
