does it have the push button power mode or whatever they called it? you might check into that if it does no, it doesn't have that, that's the Asian tranny, which is the good tranny, the Black Jeep has that one ;D Does the one in the white jeep have the vaccume hose attached on the passanger side? If so, it might be leaking some vaccume, causing the issue..

Well I found out Thursday that the White Jeep only has 3 speeds..no overdrive like the Black Jeep. They(Transaction Transmissions in Forest Grove) got the tranny lines fixxed and found out that the 4x4 low shifter braket was bent. They adjusted the shift pattern so it should shift better. We pick it up Friday...if it doesn't cost too much.

So last saturday we went to Sand Lake to watch for th tsunami which never happened. Renee tried to drive up Spikes Hill, which is the tall dune off the beach near the Wash-out. She got about half way up and the white jeep just bogged down. That hill is really that steep. I'm thinking that the choke is stuck on, I'll look at it this week sometime. The sand was wet and we really weren't aired down, only 24lbs in the white jeep and 26lbs in the black jeep. The black jeep made it up, but struggled just a bit. I ended up switching rigs with Renee and drove the white jeep up in 1st gear, almost not making it. It seems like the white jeep has No power, granted it is a 2.8L with a 3 speed tranny. But I've got a holley 4-barrel 390cfm and 3" exhaust with a Flowmaster muffler. I think it would breath easy? The engine builders said they put in a cam that edlebrock suggested to go with the 4-barrel intake and holley 390cfm. The motor sounds healthy, but just doesn't seem to be quick off the line, feels more like I'm pulling a trailer.

I wonder if the white jeep is really high geared, like maybe 308:1 or something like that, also I usually always drive in low range unless I'm doing high speed stuff. Try driving in low range and try to find out your gear ratio.

My truck was a dog till I advanced the timing. I would try low range too though.

I agree with both Jason and Josh. Also remember the black jeep has a 4 speed auto, 1st gear should be lower then the 3 speed auto of the white jeep. Maybe all the these things combined could be the differances you are feeling.
I also run low range most of the time.. Tyler messed up the clutch in the jeep by running high range in the sand going up a hill..

doesent the black jeep have a 4.0? or they both the 2.8? as already stated running 4 low would most likely be the better option especially on the sand going up hill. also are you sure you have 3" exaust on that thing pretty big for a smaller motor bigger isnt always better

The White Jeep is 3" exhaust from where the cat was all the way out the back. I was thinking that maybe there needs to be some back pressure?

Try driving in low range and try to find out your gear ratio. I'll have to see what gears we have in it, I thought they were 3:55, the same as the Black Jeep. The White Jeep runs around 4k at 55mph, the Black Jeep run at half that at 55mph.

My truck was a dog till I advanced the timing. I would try low range too though. I'm wonder about the timing too, I'll look into that. I'm thinking I'll have to change out the distributor, I don't think it has vacuum advance. The wiring/vacuum harness is for California/Federal Emissions and the new intake has none of that. Edlebrock never said anything about reusing anything. Do they make a vacuum advance distributor for a 2.8L?
