Ok this isn't immediate, like life in danger ...
But our only good vehicle that has been to the dealer for everything and babied, just dumped a head gasket !
Thank god my wife only drives 1 block to work, but we can't drive out of town now without using a gallon of water.
I can barely afford the parts ($200) for full head gasket and bolts...
I just can't afford the labor some people are going to charge.
I am planning a BBQ I'll buy like $100-150 worth of food and beer,
If I could get some help with this head gasket, Need it done within the next 2 weeks.
So if I can get some help to make this a 6 hr job or so, i'll sponsor the next BBQ at our Coffee shop where I can park like 20+ cars....
Appreciate all the help guys !
It's a 1995 Land Rover Discovery with 3.9 V8 if anyone wants to look up info on it....
thanks again buds
FYI - dealership wants to charge $4000 .... so this is why im getting desperate.

Did not get hot at all, and when it gets low on water it still doesn't get hot.
Just want to change gaskets and hope all is well, highly doubt the heads are cracked or warped they are steel not aluminum. rest of the motor is aluminum.

I have an air compressor, but it might be a wise choice if you guys brought some basic tools , like wrenches and sockets and air tools. ...
we have some/alot but they're scattered and we'd spend more time trying to find them then anything else.

Had it looked at a local shop and you can tell it's an internal leak, the cooling system pressurizes when the water burns off.... tons of water coming out the exhaust...
i used a digital gauge on the radiator, and it's not going about 170 degrees ...
Talked to the wife and if someone is willing to do the work, ill give you money for the parts and you can have my 1990 jeep wagoneer, title and everything ... in my avatar ...

Ok scratch all the jeep talk , it is still for sale,
Just ordered the full kit, will be replacing them myself, jeep will just be a safety precaution in case i need to buy a new head or resurface, whatever is the case.
Let's try and settle on a date, ANYDAY in the next week is great for me, Start wee early in the mornin' and hopefully make it a 1 day job....
Anyone have a problem with sometime this upcoming week ? 1-9th ?
Just dont want the water to ruin the bearings in my crank or anything (this is our only vehicle, or a jeep ... that isn't insured, haha)

I just had some guy from Hillsboro call me and say he would change both headgaskets and whatever else is required, and pay for the parts $159 ...
I told him to send me some references. He works at a forklift place right now as their mechanic and used to own a fabrication shop (supposedly)
What should I look for, ask ?
I figure I should give him 2 disposable cameras and ask him to document every step he takes with pictures. And he will not receive the jeep until the landrover's problems are fixed.
He said it would take about a week and he'll give me cash for the parts.
appreciate all responses...
P.S. i'd be willing to do this same situation with a poorboy rather than someone I dont know ..
hit me up

Is anyone up for doing it sometime this week ?
Take me 2-3 days to get parts, and would start the minute the sun rises or gets close ...
Taking suggestions on days 5th 6th
just let me know,

Sorry to hear pal. But it is better to get it fixed right the first time (not to say at least one of us couldn't do it right) but better than it nickle and diming you to death.
