Im looking around for winches. I've had winches in the past but they were only ever used for pulling logs. Whats a good all around size for my land cruiser? Its just under 5000lbs, although the 42 create alot of suction.

I have always heard at least 1.5 times the weight of your rig. I have a 9000 now and feal it is under powered on a straight pull with a few wraps on the drum. I should be using a 12k. You could probably get away with an 8k but if you got the funds I would look into a 9-9.5

I think the 10-12k would be great on there. Over kill for most applications but strong enough when you have a short straight pull where your really stuck.

Warn is a good quality brand I bought a 16,000 lbs winch kit from 4wheelonline about 4 years ago and still looks and works great. Another good brand is Smittybilt.
