So I've been wondering what would be better in my jeep. I want to keep it street able, but I also want to make it much stronger. I know the axles will not hold up and I've already got it 4-linked. So my question is what is better? I know the Rockwell’s are stronger but the top loader my be harder for the driveline angles and they are heavy. If I want to put 54" tires on it, will a Dana 60 hold up? Will Rockwells handle being driving daily on the street? I’ve seen a guy in a jeep with Rockwells and 54” tires driving around Hillsboro but I have never been able to talk to him.

i personally would use 1 ton stuff. but i dont plan on running 54's. will rockwells be ok on the street my guess is they came from a streetable vehicle so im sure they would be fine. as far as brakes go unless they been stripped they have drum brakes and a few companies make disk brake kits and plus you have a pinion brake that can be used but not sure if those are street legal.
even though your 4 linked already it most likely will need to be re-designed(screw driver and duck tape wont hold 54's) lol but look at the materials pb1 used.

you'll have to narrow those rockwells or run huge fender flairs to be driving down the street

Thanks Bill, I love the pictures. I see plusses to both options. I already had to use a really small drivline in my low pinion 30 because of the flex, and even at that; I had to cut away some of my T-case support, or the driveline would have hit it. I would like the see how jeep guys really put in a rockwell and driveline with alot of down flex. I've seen pics of it but never seen one up close in person. I'm 50-50. The Dana 60 may be to weak for what I really want, but would be easier and lighter. I don't see the rockwells braking even under hard abuse, but they are harvy and the brake and driveline issues are my consirns.

Hmm.. he wants $1000 for the turning axles plus I'd have shipping of probably $300 to get them here, then I'd have the brake issues and stuff still to deal with. I'm not sure it's worth it.

Thanks Jason. So what do you think? You have done this before... Rockwells (like listed above) or Dana 60\14B? I know you had extra costs in your Rocks. Any advise??

This was the guy's last email back to me.. Yeah the rear is sitting on its own I planned on running air shocks on the front but never got a shock hoop built ...the coil brackets are on the front axle and rear as well... the axles are complete minus the front axle shafts however they are two piece shafts with a ujoint connecting them I have 2 inner shafts for the long side and one outter shaft for the short side im letting go with the axles... I use to have the 60 14 setup in this jeep as you may have seen in one of the pics but I swapped to rockwells.im a big rockwell fan and have had 6 sets of them... only reason im not finishing this rockwell rig is because I dont have the time or money ! Anything else just let me know thanks.
Think it's worth $1300 shipped? I'll still need brakes and steering after that..

If you plan on running 54s then plan on spending ALOT of money. If you want a jeep that is streetable and sturdy put 60/14 bolt in it and get some superior shafts. That setup should be fine up to 44" tire in a rig your size. I really cant see you putting on 54s and keeping it street legal.

Extreme 4x4 did a cutom fromt axle last wekend. They used a 14 bolt center with F series 50 outers and had to have custom inner shafts made. This way you can set the width you want on the front, but you'd probably want to match a 14 bolt for the rear if your doing the budget thing. I've heard of other axles being built using dana 70 and rockwell outers with the 14 bolt as well.
