My new quad.. It has a 2006 GSXR 1000CC fuel injected motor, full race pipe, and power commander 3 fuel & timing computer. It makes a whopping 183 HP and have 26" 18 paddle sand tires on it. The frame is stretched 6" and is has a plus 12" swing arm on it, making it 7'6" overall length. As you can tell it needs some work to finish it. I'm hoping to make a clay mold then fiberglass to fill in the tank and side pieces area. Wish me luck.. I've never done something like this before..

oh ya.. I had to put one more sticker on it after taking it all apart and cleaning, then repainting the frame ;D It just seemed to fit the quad.

Wow that doesn't look like a 12" arm. That things gonna eat banshees on the sand! I'm thinking of calling it "Lady Killer" because all the Banshee racers shorten the names to Shee.. LOL... get it? I think the swing arm looks closer because the tires are so HUGE!! They are 26"!!! Some midget racing friends use this motor and say it has a really wicked power band from 9K-12K. It is so strong that it flippes over the midget cars! They tell me at even at 100MPH, the front end will fly up and flip over if i'm not careful. Some have stopped using the 2005-2006 GSXR1000 motor because of this brutal power band. They say it's way stronger then a two stroke power band. The motor will turn 17,000 RPM. I can't wait to ride it but now it makes me a little worried about the power band in the middle of the RPM range and it might be too much motor ;D

If it flips and you survive you just need to get a longer arm lol. And yeah I'd say those tires make it look shorter lol. I had a 6 inch arm on my old raptor with 22's and it didn look to much longer.

Thanks for the fuel tank section idea. I'm still struggling to figure out how to do it and cutting some fenders or some way to help make support under it will help. My latest idea is to cut tin and mold it around the plastics, then trim to get it close.. Then use it as a mold and put the fiberglass inside it. I've been watching some video's on how to do it, but I'm not sure I'm that skilled. Still I need to do something. Hmm.. Maybe I'll leave it the way it is.. Call me "The Stig" I'll keep a bag over my helmet when driving it

what about styro foam. They used it on the Chop Cut Rebuild show when they did the custom body moldings for a corvette body. Trim to the shoap, use bondo to get it shaped perfect and smooth. then use it to make a mold for the final product...

I had som pieces of Styro foam but it must have been the wrong type because it kept comming off in chuncks when I was trying to mold it. That, or I just don't know what I'm doing

This is my cardboard attempt. I will want to put the bottom of it inside the frame if possible. I'm not really happy with it. I will probably get some other card board from the dollar tree and start over. If I get it to how I like it, do you think I can put down wax paper and then put the fiberglass over it in on the quad without making to much of a mess? Then let it dry and remove the cardboard and wax paper from under it and then maybe put more filler as needed to firm it up?

The wax paper should work I think. Instead of just putting the cloth over it though, go to Joanns fabric and get some felt. Cover the mold with the felt and then brush the resin onto it and let it harden. Then put the fiberglass cloth over the top of hardened felt. That what I did when I built the center console for my truck and it worked great. The felt helped hold the shape I wanted and added strength. If I remember correctly I put 3 layers of fiberglass cloth on it before covering the body filler and then sanded it smooth.
Good luck, hope it works out for you. That thing has to scream on the sand, look forward to seeing some video.
