I was just mostly asking if anybody else does it out of curiousity... not ready for any riding buddies yet... still trying to get back in shape after not doing it for 10 years.... my k5 is a spider night club at the moment as putting a tank of gas in it would be half of my unemployment.....havent even worked on it or even started it in awhile ... kinda low priority at the moment...... job search , my health and my better half are whats important right now ...... health is where the mountain bike comes in.... my wife hadn't ridden a bike in 30 years and I got her riding too

Ride it on paved paths and dirt, just not as much as I'd like to of this summer.

Not gloating, it was free. It was given to me by my dad after I got out of the USMC last year. He has some fascination with riding the fence at black rock but it hasn't ever happened. I really wanted to go out to some tamer trails this summer but work has completely taken over my schedule: 1.3 ish hour commute each way, 10.5 hour shift and throw in I hate being late so I'm usually sitting in the break room for 1-1.5 hours watching tv. Then there's my projects and honey do list.....lol. The truck is next to last big thing I gotta get done. Hoping to go to silver falls or Mary's peak for a ride before it gets super cold.

I also had a bag like the bike in the first pic, I took it off and put on a small red bike light. Ripped the light right off the first time I jumped the bike. I think it's supposed to have something like 5" of travel in the rear and 6" in the front with the front fork set up I got on it.

cool...... I will try to keep riding through the winter..... that bike you have would be cool to take to one of the ski runs during the summer for some fast downhill riding.... I know timberline does it, not sure about other places in this neck of the woods

It would be cool but not with me piloting it. Last time I jumped I landed on some gravel and the bike tried to lay down on me, I saved it but I almost went off a embankment and into the willamette river lol.

yep, I got one from Costco. yeah I'm not hard core or nothing but at lest I didn't buy it from bi-mart or walmart. I think its a Northrock....? anyways I do ride around my hood from time to time with it, but stays on the road 99% of the time.

not all bikes from walmart are bad..... long as you spend $150-200 or more...... the bikes cheaper than that are basically junk..... a few halfway decent bikes are:
26"........ genesis V2100, genesis sabre, genesis hd2600, mongoose snarl, xr200/250,Schwinn Aluminum Comp
29".... genesis 29er, mongoose deception/ stat, XR-pro
in fact the bike I posted in the first pic is a genesis V2100 with a few upgraded parts...... it was all I could afford at the time and bikes have gotten so overpriced on criagslist.... the only stuff in my price range at the time were 20 year old rigid low end giants, diamondbacks and used dept store bikes....in fact I have seen walmart bikes on there for twice what they sell for at walmart.....the genesis V2100 sells for $159... and I have seen them on CL for $250.... there is one for sale on CL in corvallis for $400..... but I did do a ton of research before I bought a bike and got the best one I could for the money..... its not a bad bike for a $160 walmart bike.......the bad rep on the walmart stuff is the bad in store assembly... I brought mine home, took it apart and assembled it right, swapped out the crappy pedals and seat, removed all the worthless plastic guards, and took off most of the ghey looking stickers..... I have done my upgrades on the cheap.... looking on the web for good prices on stuff.... even with the pictured upgrades I am just under $250 into the bike... and its a new bike..... sometimes used bikes can be a bad deal if they were abused and not properly maintained.... I have spied a few awesome deals for a rock shox fork and a shock for the rear suspension and some other stuff
