hey PB just wondering if you put a post up on pirate asking the same question? No I did not cause there are a few threads on there already. Just thought I would get the local feed back on here. Be careful anyone checking into their own policy because there is a chance your insurance company will drop your coverage if you ask too many questions. if i get dropped because im asking questions on what they will insure i guess i didnt need them anyway

I am having the same problems... I cant get ANY insurance for my buggy. I have called everyone I can think of and there is just no guidelines for them to follow for a homemade crawler. I even called and spoke to the patrol officers for Browns, Officer Millan I think was his name? I dont know what to do, I dont want to get in trouble but at the same time I have too much money in the buggy to just sit in the yard. DAMIT THIS SUCKS!!!!!!!

Bug- I talked to farmers and they will insure your rig because its home built and a buggy. They have insurance for buggys just not non street legal trucks. I talked to the cop at tsf and he told me they are having a huge problem with that law. He said as long as I can show some kind of insurance it will be fine for now. So in other words if your insurance will cover you while you are driving someone else rigs just grab your insurance card out of your tow rig. He said he will not pull anyone over just to check insurance. I hope that helps for now. I have a family friend helping me (she works for farmers) so when she finds out anything I will let you guys know.

When I called gieco they told me they will not insure anything with more than 9 inchs of lift including body lift. Unless you have full coverage and the lift was put on by a shop. Another thing I found out is if you don't have stock seat belts they will not cover you if you get full coverage. Threw gieco any ways.

i just insure ours as what it is or was. for example 1992 cherokee. they dont ask about the specifics and with all the metal work im not worried about damage to the rig just for it to be street legal.

This works until you use it then after that they will drop you, but that is still not my issue., I can get normal coverage using your method, but I want comprehensive that will cover everything on my truck and that is where I have issues and questions arise. Thanks everyone who is looking into this. I think the state needs to step up and make a change.

I had comprehensive on my jeep as a show rig. not sure if thats what your looking for but they asked what it would cost to replace I said 35k and my policy allowed for 4k miles a year but had full everything for about 360 bucks a year. All they required was pics incase it was stolen to justify the 35k.

I am just going to have the insurance for my pickup on me when I go to browns, forget trying to insure the buggy. Stupid law made by stupid people..... Caused by even dumber Ass hats that go 90mph up there and run over people. Its that 1% that screws it up for the rest of us. Thanks Dick......

I FOUND A COMPANY THAT WILL COVER THE NONE STREET LEGAL OFF ROAD RIGS. I WAS STRAIGHT FORWARD WITH THEM ABOUT ALL THE MODS & THE RESPONCE WAS NOPROBLEM. FOR MY LANDCRUISER IT WILL BE $15.25 MONTH OR $183 YEAR. THEY DIDN'T EVEN NEED TO SEE A PIC OF VEHICLE OR ASK IF IT WAS MADE AT HOME. I EVEN TOLD THEM THAT THERE IS NOLONGER A GOOD VIN# ON THE VEHICLE TO MATCH THE TITLE THAT I HAVE FOR IT. THEY EVEN ASKED WHAT DOLLAR VALUE I WANTED IT INSURED FOR. www.stratumins.com/index.htmlHOPE THIS HELPS OUT OTHER TRAILER QUEENS LIKE MYSELF.
