ok and with the nice weather I figured I would get some time consuming work out of the way on the front and I finally finshed my frame tubes By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-07 By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-07 By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-07 By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-07 By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-07 Well to get the suspension done I had to jack up the truck and some how my floor jack grew feet and walked away so Highlift jack to the rescue but the suspension is to soft and I couldn't find a strap at first By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-07 Then I had figured a way to make my shocks clear the frame just had to do a little notching on the frame By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-07 By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-07 By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-07 Shockingly they clear By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-07

Post by mudmaniac3 on Apr 8, 2012 21:07:10 GMT -5
factory weight on the scout was said to be 3050lbs where as the 4runners are about 3350 so it was actually lighter from the factory than a 4runner well I got more work done today. completely finished the transmission tunnel By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-08 I also remade my radiator mount even after I burn't myself By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-08 then I installed it By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-08 By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-08 I then I broke off the stock bulkhead connector for the wires into the body and I installed the engine wiring throught the hole worked perfect. By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-08 My buddy painted this peice of my door so I installed it haha By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-08 I then built my shock hoops for the front By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-08 then I installed them and my shocks By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-08 Now the suspension is completed By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-08

thank you I'm having an issue with the steering tho if you look at this picture you can see my tie rod hits the spring when the suspension drops out. By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-07 Choice's are "A" not worry about it "B" mildly better just put some grease on the leaf spring so it lubes when it hits haha "C" pull the degree shim out and deal with a less than ideal pinion angle OR "D" try and find a degree shim thats less and run it I know I have a 7 degree pinion shim

what about adding a 1/4 inch thick washer in there to raise the tie rod on the arm? you could even weld it to the top of the arm.
Just a thought, not sure if its a good one

You know what thats actually a great idea. I may just make a 1/4" plate to go across the whole top of the arm and weld it on. I knew I liked you guys for a reason haha

well it was that or I would go with lubing the pink tie rod to keep it from chafing LOL

ok I'm set on getting this done so worked on it again after work tonight. I started to install the dash harness and discovered mounting the ECU will kinda be a pain in the butt but I think I figured it out just gotta make a mound for the ecu. I also went and wired the tail lights forward past the rear shocks so I could remount my fuel tank for the final time. (I hope) By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-09 By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-09 Oh and I also topped off the gear oil in the front and rear end so I wouldn't forget. And people keep asking me why my scouts not done yet well its all the little projects that take forever like my winch. Yes I could have just installed it but thats not the way this rig works so I had to do something to it so I customized it. bet you've never seen one like this before By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-09 By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-09

ok went and did a little work this week bought the a brake master cylinder for a 1978 grand marquis with drum brakes in the rear not disc. also went and bought the clutch master cylinder which is for a 1985 dodge d50 it pretty much bolts up and has the same stroke as stock but has metric lines so will bolt right up to the 3rz slave cylinder. I also bought some oil so I don't forget the motor does not have oil in it. Then I went to the steel yard and got some receiver tubing to make my front driveline. and got it all built ready for paint and install By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-13 By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-13 pictures don't show it welded but it is as of tonight and it will just be temporary just to get it on the trail and then will be my spare. well its the weekend so will definately get some work done on this hog.

ok got a little work done this weekend. first off I got the front driveline painted and greased up then installed it with new bolts as well as swapping the rear driveline bolts out for the new ones By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-15 By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-15 I also got my hook up point for stuck jeeps ready By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-15 By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-15 I then ran all the wires from the back of the scout into the tub, as well as running the fuel lines from the tank to the engine bay, plumbed the rear brakes to the middle of the body, and mounted everything clean. Here is the process of running everything By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-15 By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-15 By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-15 Here is the finished product By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-15 By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-15 And I finally mounted my winch and getting it ready. I had to massage the power steering box a little with the grinder to make it fit but its in By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-15

ok well i did a little work on the scout after work today. just little stuff. I couldn't fit the air filter on the end of my air intake systems so I cut it down a little so that it would clear my heater box. By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-16 I've been lookin at where I wanna throw my batteries and I finally decided that they fit best right behind the headlights on either side so I made up some battery trays but I will need to pull the grill headlight peice off so that I can install them but that works fine because it will make it easier to brace up my radiator mount as well By MUDmainac3 at 2012-04-16 Then I decided to make an ecu mount that way I can finish my engine wiring this week.
